Perhaps the most popular is Roundhay Park, situated a few miles north of the city. Head just a few miles out of the centre and you’ll find some fantastic parks. The Leeds to Liverpool canal is a favourite for walkers, joggers and cyclists alike. To take a ride simply head to Granary Wharf or Leeds Dock and look for the yellow flag.Įven in the heart of the city, Leeds has some great routes to catch a breath of fresh air. Running every 20 minutes, the fifteen-minute boat ride ferries passengers along the scenic canal route between Granary Wharf and Leeds Dock. The Leeds Water Taxi runs every day from 7am until 7pm on weekdays, and 10am until 7pm on Saturday and Sunday.
The Tetley, located in the headquarters of the former Tetley Brewery, describes itself as ‘a new centre for contemporary art and learning.’ Opened in 2013, the art gallery stretches over three floors and regularly holds free workshops, talks and open days. Just a short walk (or taxi boat, more on that later!) from the city centre to the newly named ‘Leeds Dock’ and you’ll find the Royal Armouries, the UK’s National Museum of Arms and Armour.
